The Fond du Lac American Legion Auxiliary is excited to announce that we will again be participating in a patriotic essay contest, in conjunction with the Wisconsin State American Legion Auxiliary and the National American Legion Auxiliary! We would be grateful if you could promote this contest to your teachers and students. One of our passions is involving our youth in patriotic endeavors. The Americanism Essay Contest embodies these principles in a perfect way. The essay contest is open to students in Grades 3-12. We will be awarding a $25 cash prize and a medal to the first place finisher in each category. The second place finisher will be awarded a medal.This has been made possible to our organization through the monies donated by the Rose Kuter Foundation. All first-place entries will be forwarded to the state level. State winners may advance to the national level. Local entries are due on March 1, 2019. Please see the two additional attachments for more details which can be printed and distributed to interested teachers and students. Friday, January 25 beginning at 6:00 p.m. (FHS Acuity Field House) You are invited to show your Fondy Pride at the Cardinals "Fondy Flight Night" varsity basketball games on January 25th at the Fond du Lac High School Acuity Field House. In a doubleheader, the boys team will tip off at 6:00 p.m. with the girls game following. Throughout the game fans will be able to test their skills on the National Guard obstacle course. In between games the airplane "Distance Challenge" will take place at center court with qualifying winners from each elementary, middle, and high school. Then, all fans will be able to participate during half-time of the girls game in the Fold 'N Fly Airplane Toss by purchasing airplane sheets for a $1 at the game for a chance to win an overnight stay at the Wilderness Resort in the WI Dells among other great prizes for the whole family. All proceeds from the game will directly benefit Northeast Wisconsin's "Old Glory Honor Flight" program. Fond du Lac School District students get in FREE of charge. General admission is $4 and seniors (62+) are FREE at the door.
Saturday, January 26 at 7:00 p.m. (FDL Blue Line Family Ice Center) Then join us for the return of "Hungry Hippos on Ice" on Saturday, January 26th, at the FDL Blue Line Family Ice Center as the Fondy hockey team takes on Arrowhead. All fans bringing non-perishable food items to the game will receive raffle tickets (it's a SWAP!) to win one of Watch the freshman, sophomore, junior, and seniors battle for the pride of Hungry Hippo champion in between the first and second period. After chuck-a-puck in between the second and third periods, fans who brought in non-perishable , In between the first Game time is 7:00 p.m. Fond du Lac School District students get in FREE of charge. Any fans donating three non-perishable food items will receive FREE admission into the game. Otherwise, general admission is $4 and seniors (62+) are FREE at the door.
Children in Grades 3-12 are invited to participate in this contest that provides them with an opportunity to express themselves through writing and illustrating. The contest requirements, guidelines, and entry from are available here. The deadline for entries is February 15, 2019.
Moraine Park Technical College offers free English classes to adults who do not speak English as their primary language. Students do not need a High School Diploma to participate. The only requirements are that a student be at least 18 ½ years old and complete an orientation before attending. Classes are available year-round in Fond du Lac, West Bend, and Beaver Dam.
