Theisen Student Drop Off and Pick Up

STUDENT DROP OFF AND PICK UP

2011-12 SCHOOL YEAR

In an effort to keep our students safe, Theisen Middle School will be using the following Drop Off/Pick Up Procedures for the 2011-12 School Year:

**Adult supervision begins at 7:35am daily in the back (north) holding area.

1)      Students that are dropped off before 7:50 a.m. will need to wait in the designated Student Holding Area until the entrance bell rings. The designated Waiting Area is in the back of the building (north). Any student that is dropped off in front of_the building before 7:50 will be required to walk on the sidewalk to the back of the building (unless one of the principals is present to supervise).

*At 7:30 students may enter the building if they are going to eat breakfast only,

or if they have a written pass to visit a teacher.

2)  All cars entering from Pioneer and proceeding to the Student Waiting Area

MUST follow the directional arrows and will exit onto Martin Avenue.  All

cars entering from Martin Avenue and proceeding to the Student Waiting Area

MUST follow the directional arrows and will exit onto Pioneer Drive.

3)      Cars should STOP ONLY on the PASSENGER SIDE of the driveway if entering from Pioneer and the DRIVER SIDE if entering from Martin to drop off students. (This will minimize the amount of traffic students must cross in front of to enter the building and allow cars to pass on the driver’s side.)***PLEASE make sure students always exit the vehicle to the right/passenger side and not into oncoming traffic side.

4)      Cars MUST follow the directional cones and posted signs.

5)      BIKES must be parked in the bike racks provided!  Students riding bikes will need to travel on the designated bike paths to the bike racks.

6)      STUDENT PICK UP:  Students being picked up in the front of the building after school must depart by 3:00. All other students must wait for their ride in the designated Student Holding Area in the back of the building where adult supervision is present.

      8)   DO NOT PARK ON SIDEWALKS – These are for bikes and pedestrians only!

      9)  DO NOT PARK in the designated Handicap Parking Stalls or the Bus

Loading/Unloading Zones (even if a bus is not present at the time!) Front of building

marked in yellow on drive area & posted with signs!

PLEASE HELP…Mid Block Crossing has been a problem identified by our school and our district. Please speak with your child about the importance of using the cross walks provided to safely cross the street.

BE PATIENT AND SAFE!!!!  Please remember that these areas will become congested and it is very important that you plan accordingly and remain patient.  Please do not let driver impatience be the cause of a student injury or conflict.
