Theisen Traffic Letter to Parents from Principal Nerat

August 18, 2011

Dear Parent/Guardian,

While preparing for the 2011-2012 school year, our school district and several business and community leaders have been working on a Parking and Traffic Safety Awareness Campaign that we believe will enhance the safety of our students as they travel to and from school.  It is with this letter that we are hoping to provide information about and ask for your active support of our “Safe Kid Zone” campaign.

Student safety is always our highest priority and we are asking that our parents, guardians, community members and students follow these simple safety rules:

·        Slow Down

·        Be Alert

·        Be Patient

·        Know your Specific School Rules*

·        Walk or Bike to School When Possible

·        Follow Bike Safety Rules

·        Cross at Crosswalks

·        Stay Off Cell Phones

·        Stop the Car Completely when Loading/Unloading

·        Enjoy This Time With Your Child

As you travel to and from our schools, you will notice bright green 36-inch cones that simply say “SAFE KIDS ZONE”.  These cones have been purchased through donations from the community, in an effort to remind drivers and pedestrians to PLEASE slow down and remember these campaign safety points.

Finally, each school has participated in a Parking and Traffic Safety assessment that may have led to changes in the parking and drop off/pick up procedures. *Please be sure to read the attached page that includes school specific procedures and maps so you are aware of the procedures expected at your child’s specific school.

Thank you in advance for your support of our “SAFE KIDS ZONE” campaign!  We truly need your help in making sure our students arrive and depart from school in the safest environment possible.

Sincerely,

Brad Nerat

Principal
