Summertime in Fond du Lac (FDL) is about to get a little bit hotter for the residents and surrounding communities as it gets ready to welcome to Herr-Baker Field, its new sports crush, the Dock Spiders of the North Woods baseball team. To give the team a fabulous “Fondy” welcome, the community is invited to its weekend opener on Sunday, June 4 for Family Day. With a 1:05 p.m. scheduled start time, the game is sure to be filled with lots of activities as well as new excitement for summer.
Presented by sports and entertainment marketing students at Fond du Lac High School, the idea of a community event with the new team was not only exhilarating, it was also a great fit to support the class’s final project. “I think it’s a breath of fresh air to have something new in Fond du Lac,” said Fond du Lac High School senior Emily Ziegler. “Families are always looking for things to do and experience with their children to build memories, and this event would be a great opportunity to do that!” As far as the learning experience of creating this event for the community, Emily stated “as one of my last projects as a student at Fondy, this was a fun one to be a part of and make happen. The collaborative efforts of working with my team offered a unique learning experience, and reaching out to and talking to business leaders in the community really opened my eyes to the professionalism, kindness and generosity of the people here in Fond du Lac.”
Families wishing to purchase tickets must do so at Fond du Lac High School by Friday, May 26 between the hours of 7:00 a.m.- 4:00 p.m. Special ticket package pricing is $36 for a 4-pack with additional tickets at $9 each. Each ticket sold will also receive a FREE t-shirt while supplies last. Other activities at the game include a fast pitch booth hosted by the FDL Police Department and face painting and a tattoo station hosted by the Cardinal’s Nest as well as in-game promotions.
