Fond du Lac High School Presents Little Shop of Horrors

Fond du Lac High School Presents Little Shop of Horrors – January 31 – February 2

Well, those crazy theatre kids at Fond du Lac High School are at it again . . . working in earnest for the opening of yet another theatrical production! Little Shop of Horrors opens Thursday, January 31 and runs through Saturday, February 2 at 7 p.m. at the Fond du Lac High School Performing Arts Center.

This year is reminiscent of 2014 when the decision was made to attempt two musicals in a single year. Questions swirled . . . Where would the funding come from? Could the kids actually learn an entire musical, leave it, stage a different one (this year it was "A Christmas Carol"), then return to the first one and get it show ready in a little over a month? And yet, despite all those things the cast and crew of "Little Shop of Horrors" is getting ready to open in two weeks!

Little Shop of Horrors is a horror-comedy rock musical by composer Alan Menken and writer Howard Ashman. The story revolves around Seymour, a hapless florist shop worker, who unintentionally raises a plant that feeds on human blood and flesh. The musical is based on the low-budget 1960 black comedy film The Little Shop of Horrors. The music, composed by Menken in the style of early 1960s rock and roll, doo-wop and early Motown, includes several well-known tunes, including the title song, "Skid Row (Downtown)", "Somewhere That's Green," and "Suddenly, Seymour."

General admission tickets are $10 for adults and $8 for students and are now available at Fond du Lac High School’s office from 8 a.m. – 4 p.m. Tickets will also be sold at the box office starting at 6:15 p.m. the evening of the performances.

Little Shop of Horrors is a hilarious dark comedic homage to B-movies of the 1950s and 60s. As a parental guideline, there are some mature themes and a bit of profanity that would earn this show a PG rating.
