Application Process for Full & Part-Time Positions

Full & Part-Time Positions

All interested candidates can apply for a position within the Fond du Lac School District once it is vacant and has been posted. Vacancies for Teachers, Instructional Assistants, Secretaries, Custodial, Maintenance, Administrative, and Coaching positions are available for viewing within WECAN

Set Up a WECAN Account

If you are interested in applying for a vacant position, go to WECAN and if you are new to WECAN and do not have an account, select the button Create an Applicant Account OR if you already have an account, log in with the appropriate email address and password. 

Viewing and Applying for Openings

Once you are logged in you will see the Applicant Dashboard where you can Search Vacancies under either Certified Staff or Support Staff. You can apply for positions that you see there by submitting your application through WECAN by 11:59 p.m. of the closing deadline. You must apply for each individual position that you are interested in. For your convenience, the links are provided below:

Certified Staff openings – Teacher, Administrator

Support Staff openings – Instructional Assistants, Secretaries, Custodial, Maintenance, Interpreters, Technology Support, Coaching positions

When completing the application, please answer all questions and provide all relevant information.  Make sure to attach all the required documentation. Only after you have completed this process will your file be complete and you will be eligible for current or future teaching vacancies. 

THE SELECTION PROCESS   

The Fond du Lac School District uses a site-based hiring process.  This process involves the building or department administrators of the areas in which the vacancies exist. Please do not contact these building/department administrators directly.  These administrators review applications and other materials and make a determination as to the candidates they wish to interview.  Interviews may be initiated via telephone or email.  Please monitor the email account that you have provided in WECAN.  

At the conclusion of the interview and screening process, the building or department administrator will complete Reference Checks.

REFERENCE CHECKS     

Your submission of the on-line application releases the District and anyone contacted as part of the reference process from any damages or liability incurred in obtaining and further disseminating reference check information.    

RECOMMENDATION FOR HIRE

The building or department administrator will forward the recommendation of employment to the Director of Human Resources.  The Director of Human Resources reviews the recommendation and, in many cases, will set up a final interview with the recommended candidate.  Following the final interview, if it is decided to make an offer of employment to the candidate, the Director of Human Resources will also review the Fond du Lac School District’s compensation and benefit packages and discuss various contingencies to the offer of employment.  

The District reserves the right to modify the above hiring process. 

THE OFFER OF EMPLOYMENT     

The successful candidate for employment with the Fond du Lac School District will receive an offer of employment.  That offer will be conditioned upon the candidate fulfilling the following:     

  1. Successful completion of a post offer of employment physical.  This process will include a drug screening.  This is paid for by the District, provided the physical is completed by the medical practitioner of the District’s choice.  
     
  2. Completion of the Federal I-9 Employment Eligibility Verification Form.  This form must be completed within three (3) days of the candidate’s actual start date or sooner.
     
  3. Successful completion of a criminal background check.  A criminal record does not automatically bar a candidate from employment, depending upon the circumstances of the conviction.
     
  4. Submission of original transcripts from both undergraduate and graduate institutions to verify salary schedule placement.  
     
  5. Verification of a valid Department of Public Instruction license with the required certification for the position.

  6. Verification of prior employment and work experience.    
     
  7. If the candidate is under contract with another district, submission of a document releasing the candidate from the contract of employment with that district.  
     
  8. Board of Education action accepting the Director of Human Resource’s recommendation of employment of the candidate. 

In some cases, the selected candidate may be asked to start working prior to fulfilling all of the above conditions to the offer of employment.  Notwithstanding, the District reserves the right to modify the candidate’s salary schedule placement or withdraw the offer of employment if the conditions of the offer of employment are not fulfilled to the satisfaction of the District.
