Art Foundations (8th Grade)

Course Length:

One semester that meets every other day for one block

Course Description and Purpose:

Art Foundations is a prerequisite art course for students wanting to take advanced art classes at Fond du Lac High School.

Successful completion of Art Foundations allows students to enroll in Drawing 1, Painting 1, Ceramics/Sculpture 1, and Glass/Metal Design 1.  If you like these classes, you can take it 2 more times (each class such as “Drawing” has a Drawing 1, a Drawing 2 and a Drawing 3 class.)  Each class gets more advanced along the way.

Art Foundations lays the conceptual framework for advanced courses. We will learn techniques, proper use of equipment/tools, and how to use the Elements of Art in conjunction with the Principles of Design to create successful compositions.
