The Fond du Lac School District serves approximately 400 English Language Learners (ELLs). Majority of the ELLs speak Spanish or Hmong and a small portion of them speak Chinese, Telugu, Hindi, Korean, Arabic, Urdu, or Punjabi. ELL students from K-12 may be served through some combination of the following: the ESL teacher teaching balanced content-based curriculum using the Common Core State Standards, the classroom teacher and the ESL teacher team-teaching in the content area subjects in the classroom, the ESL teacher providing Resource hour to students for additional support as needed, an interpreter serving the students in content area subjects, or an interpreter providing support in content area subjects as needed.
