Core Curriculum
LiteracyOur literacy program is designed around a Reader’s and Writer’s Workshop. We want our students to be flexible, resilient readers who read for pleasure as well as for academic purposes. Additional components within the literacy program include small group differentiation, word work, and interactive read aloud. Decades of research support that in order for students to make real progress, they need time to read, access to books they find engaging, and expert instruction.

Scope and Sequence
MathBridges in Mathematics is a comprehensive PK–5 curriculum that equips teachers to fully implement the Wisconsin State Standards for Mathematics in a manner that is rigorous, coherent, engaging, and accessible to all learners.
The curriculum focuses on developing students’ deep understandings of mathematical concepts, proficiency with key skills, and ability to solve complex and novel problems. Bridges blends direct instruction, structured investigation, and open exploration. It taps into the intelligence and strengths of all students by presenting material that is as linguistically, visually, and kinesthetically rich as it is mathematically powerful.

Scope and Sequence
Social StudiesOur vision for our K-12 social studies curriculum is focused on an inquiry framework/model that empowers students to become active meaning-makers who seek deep understanding and are able to transfer their learning. As teachers, we are facilitators of meaning versus primary dispensers of information or modelers of a skill.

The Vision for Wisconsin Social Studies as written in 2015 by the State Superintendent’s K-12 Social Studies Advisory Committee:

Wisconsin students will become civically engaged problem solvers who critically examine their roles in local, regional, state, national, and global communities. Through the study and application of the individual disciplines of social studies (behavioral sciences, economics, geography, history, and political science), students become lifelong learners able to collaborate and thrive in our interdependent world.
