Thanks to a donation from Leadership Fond du Lac, students at
Fondy Central will have more opportunities to learn in the great outdoors right at their school.
“We were approached by Envision Greater Fond du Lac’s Leadership Fond du Lac because they wanted to give us something that would make a difference for our students and staff at Fondy Central,” said Erika Daleiden, teacher at Fondy Central and Fond du Lac High School.
According to Daleiden, one of the members of Leadership Fond du Lac was a former Fondy Central grad who wanted to give back to the program. After brainstorming a few ideas, they settled on an outdoor learning space.
“Research has shown that there are real physiological, social and academic benefits to taking learning outside,” said Daleiden. “Our students have reported that they feel less stressed and more engaged in their work when they are outside. We are very grateful to our community sponsors for this valuable addition to Fondy Central.”
Leadership Fond du Lac is a community-based program that provides information and experience to individuals willing to make a lasting commitment of service to the city and county of Fond du Lac.
