What is Cross Country?

Cross country is a sport that competes in fall - teams/individuals run a race on open-air courses over natural terrain. We run through woods, prairies, trails, and along lakes. We have one to two meets each week, and the other days we practice/train through running and playing fun games. At most meets, 6th and 7th grades run 1.5 miles - 8th grade runs 2 miles. There will be a couple meets where all will run 1.5 miles

Fond du Lac Middle School Cross Country includes runners from all Fond du Lac middle schools including Sabish, Woodworth, Theisen, and STEM Institute. Although teams practice separately at their home school, they often run together at meets as a Fondy team.

Girls and boys grades 6-8 are welcome to join! It’s unlike any other sport where you have to compete to get playing time - everyone gets to run every race and ALL speeds are celebrated :)

FDL Cross Country teams believe every student should be challenged based on his or her abilities while fostering a love of physical activity, building healthy habits, and teaching proper running techniques. Through positivity and a strong work ethic, we will have an amazing season!
