The Fond du Lac School District (FDLSD) is proud to announce the Fond du Lac YMCA as the recipient of the 2024-25 Friend of Education Award.
The award recognizes an individual or group demonstrating outstanding support for the Fond du Lac School District and student success in our community.
“The Fond du Lac YMCA exemplifies what it means to be a true partner in education,” said Matt Steinbarth, Chief Academic Officer and incoming Superintendent. “From providing water safety training, which is especially important in a community with access to Lake Winnebago, to offering before-school care right at our elementary sites, the YMCA continues to meet students and families where they are and extend learning beyond the classroom.”
The Fond du Lac YMCA actively partners with our district to build and provide educational opportunities in our community. This year, the YMCA has:
Expanded before-school care at six elementary schools;
Ensured all second graders in our district receive water safety training in school;
Supported over 30 high schoolers’ participation in the Youth in Government program.
Since 1998, the Friend of Education Award has recognized individuals and groups who make substantial contributions to our district's mission. Last year’s recipient was Holiday Automotive for its long-standing commitment to driver’s education, athletics, and community events in Fond du Lac.
The 2024-25 award was presented at the Monday, May 12, 2025, Board of Education meeting.
