Woodworth Middle School carefully monitors student attendance throughout the school day, not just for safety reasons, but to help students achieve their full academic potential. Attendance is so vital to academic success that the State of Wisconsin and Fond du Lac School District limit the number of days a parent may excuse their child from school each year to 10. Please keep this number in mind not only when excusing your child for health or medical-related reasons, but also when anticipating any planned absences.
Students achieving perfect attendance for the entire school year will be recognized at the final school assembly.
If a student is ill, a parent must call the Woodworth Attendance Line (906-6727) by 8:30 a.m. and leave a message. The attendance line is available 24 hours a day and is monitored regularly during the school day. Please identify yourself, state your child’s first and last name and the reason for their absence.
APPOINTMENTS: If a student has a scheduled medical/dental appointment, please call the Woodworth Attendance Line or provide a note in advance. To avoid classroom interruption, students are given a release pass before the start of the school day, and at the designated time, they must sign out at the Attendance Office. Upon returning to school, students must report to the Attendance Office to sign in and receive a re-admit pass. Parents are not required to check in or check out their children for appointments.
We encourage that family vacations and traveling be scheduled during school breaks or holidays. Parents should arrange for any planned absences at least two full school days prior to the absence by contacting the Attendance Office. Students are required to complete any coursework as directed by their teachers.
